Lunch and Learn: Traditions of the Wall Street Trading Floors

Wednesday, November 10, 2010 | 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM

Folklorist Nancy Groce turns her ethnographic focus on the customs, traditions, beliefs and stories that make Wall Street floor traders among New York's most traditional and interesting workers. Based on her recent Smithsonian publication Lox, Stocks, and Backstage Broadway: Iconic Trades of New York City (2010), Groce compares and contrasts the history and occupational folklore of traders on the New York Stock Exchange, the New York Mercantile Exchange (now CME Group) and the New York Board of Trade.

$5 tickets may be purchased at the door and include admission to the Museum. Feel free to bring your lunch. For information call Lindsay Seeger at 212-908-4110.
