NYC Department of Education Celebrates National Mentoring Month at Museum of American Finance

WHAT: The DOE’s New York City Mentoring Program, partners businesses and organizations with high schools to create one-on-one mentoring partnerships between adults and students focused on academic, social, and career development. In partnership with the Museum of American Finance, the Department of Education will celebrate mentoring, thank mentors for ‘Thank Your Mentor Day’ and recognize the year’s outstanding mentoring pair, who will receive the “2015 Mentor-Mentee of the Year” award.

January 2015 marks the 14th anniversary of National Mentoring Month (spearheaded by the Harvard Mentoring Project of the Harvard School of Public Health, MENTOR and the Corporation for National and Community Service). The event will recognize participants, thank supporters and advocate for how everyone, whether individuals, businesses, government agencies, or non-profits, can work together to increase the number of mentors and assure brighter futures for our City’s youth.
