New York, NY – The Museum of American Finance is proud to announce that Paul Lindseth, a 16-year-old junior from Hunter College High School, has received the Museum Finance Academy’s merit scholarship for the Fall 2011 semester. The Academy is a 10-week financial literacy course for 11th and 12th graders with the goal of teaching students to aspire to financial independence, develop an appreciation for savings, make financial goals and learn to avoid scams.
In the Academy, students learn the life cycle of spending and saving which is critical as they leave high school and move on to college or a career. Progress is tracked and all students who successfully complete the program receive a certificate. The top student/s of the semester will also be eligible to receive college scholarships.
The Academy, which was launched as a pilot program for the Fall 2011 semester, was renewed for the Spring 2012 semester and is again being offered at no charge to students on a first come, first served basis. Classes will begin the week of February 28, 2012 and will be held once a week. They will be offered on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 3:30 to 5:00 pm, and Saturdays from 10:00 to 11:30 am. Enrollment is limited to 20 students per class.
