Request for Hamilton Correspondence and Documents

In the 27 volumes of the Papers of Alexander Hamilton, which took 32 years to complete and were published between 1961 and 1987, Harold Syrett firmly established Hamilton’s legacy. Since the publication of Volume 27, additional Hamilton correspondence and documents have surfaced.

Barbara Chernow, an associate editor on the original project, and Columbia University Press are investigating publication of this material in a supplementary volume to complete the series. They will be contacting libraries, collectors and auction houses about acquisitions made since 1986 or material not printed in the original volumes.

If you own, or your institution has acquired, such material and you are willing to assist with this project, please call 212-675-0605 or contact bchernow@chernow.com.
