Vanessa Sussman is an experienced communications and marketing professional with 18+ years of experience working with a range of public and private corporations, nonprofits, content providers, universities and startups around the globe. Vanessa’s expertise is in media relations, public relations, messaging, marketing, branding and events, with a focus on financial services.

Vanessa is director of communications and marketing at Morningstar Credit Ratings and works closely with key business journalists from a range of prominent news outlets including top-tier print, broadcast, online media, bloggers and trade publications. Previously, Vanessa ran her own communications consultancy focused on finserv. She has also worked at Group SJR, Foreign Policy magazine, the Council of the Americas and the United Nations Mission to the United States.

Vanessa has a master’s degree in economics and international relations from Johns Hopkins University’s Paul H. Nitze School of International Affairs (SAIS) and bachelor’s degree in Spanish and Latin American and Iberian Studies from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Vanessa has over a decade’s experience working, living and traveling throughout Latin America and the Caribbean. She is fluent in Spanish and proficient in Portuguese, French and Italian. She has been a member of the Museum's Communications Executives Advisory Panel since 2018.
