Job Description

The Museum Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Museum of American Finance in Boston, ensuring efficient management of staff and volunteers; on-site educational and public programs; and visitor services. This role supports the Museum’s mission by maintaining high operational standards, fostering community engagement and contributing to strategic development initiatives. This individual will report directly to Linda Rapacki, the Managing Director of Business Operations, Visitor Services and Education.

Key Responsibilities

Daily Operations
• Manage and oversee the Museum’s day-to-day operations, including opening and closing the facility
• Coordinate staff schedules, responsibilities and volunteer activities
• Ensure compliance with all health, safety and operational regulations
• Maintain a welcoming, organized and efficient environment for visitors and staff

Community Engagement
• Build and maintain strong relationships with community members, partners and stakeholders
• Develop and support educational programs and outreach initiatives
• Enhance visitor experiences through engaging exhibit-related programs and on-site public events

Strategic Development
• Contribute to the Museum’s strategic planning and organizational development efforts
• Support initiatives that strengthen the Museum’s growth and long-term sustainability
• Ensure the Museum adheres to industry best practices

Strong leadership and organizational management abilities
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Basic financial acumen with experience managing operational resources
• Creative problem-solving skills and the ability to develop innovative programs and initiatives

Hours
The Museum will be open Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, from 10am-4pm, and Thursday from 10am-7pm. It is closed Mondays and Tuesdays. This position will align roughly with this schedule, plus arrival and departure approximately 30 minutes prior to opening and following closing. This is a full-time position.

Preferred Qualifications
• Experience in museum operations, non-profit management, arts administration, hospitality or a related field
• Knowledge of museum standards and visitor engagement practices
• Passion for education, culture and community outreach

Growth Possibilities
• This staff member will eventually become the head of the Museum’s Boston location

Salary
• Annual Salary Range: $75,000-90,000
• Includes healthcare and other benefits
