First Bank of the United States Building

The first Bank of the US’s headquarters was located on Third Street, just south of Chestnut Street in Philadelphia. The building was unavailable to serve as the headquarters of the Second Bank because it had been purchased by merchant and private banker Stephen Girard after the first bank’s charter expired without renewal in 1811. The building survives to this day.
