MoAF Gala Highlights

The Museum honored the achievements of financial leaders in both the public and private sectors with two important awards at its annual Gala on February 6. The Whitehead Award for Distinguished Public Service and Financial Leadership recognized the significant contributions of Timothy Geithner, former US Treasury Secretary and president of Warburg Pincus. The Charles Schwab Financial Innovation Award, which recognizes individuals who have introduced new markets or new financial instruments to our financial system, was presented to Ken Griffin, founder and CEO of Citadel and founder of Citadel Securities.

New Video Available

Award-winning financial expert and MIT professor Andrew W. Lo discussed his ground-breaking new book, Adaptive Markets: Financial Evolution at the Speed of Thought, at our recent evening lecture, presented in partnership with the Fordham University Gabelli Center for Global Security Analysis. Professor Lo addressed the basic questions facing both economists and investors: Are financial markets rational and efficient, as modern financial theory assumes, or irrational and inefficient, as behavioral economists believe?

Lunch and Learn Series

The Museum of American Finance and the Fordham University Gabelli Center for Global Security Analysis co-host this program, which provides a balanced perspective on the potential and pitfalls of blockchain technology and the future of crypto investment. The program begins with a fireside chat with Ethereum Co-Founder Joseph Lubin and Michael Casey of MIT Digital Currency Labs. A panel follows addressing the broad applications of blockchain technology and its transformative potential. Participants include Cameron and Tyler Winkelvoss (Gemini), Joshua Brown (Ritholtz Wealth Management) and Paul Vigna (The Wall Street Journal). Yet their presence sparked ongoing controversy.
