Registration Now Open for Fall 2021 MFA

The Museum Finance Academy (MFA) is a FREE five session personal finance certificate course for 11th and 12th graders with the goal of teaching students to aspire to financial independence through developing an appreciation for savings, establishing financial goals and learning to avoid scams. In Spring 2024, this course will be conducted over Zoom on five consecutive Tuesdays: April 9, 16, 23, 30 and May 7, from 4:15–5:30pm (Eastern) or 4:45–6:00pm (Central).

This course requires NO prior knowledge of finance, business or economics. Top student(s) of the semester will be awarded a partial college scholarship. Register today.

The video is now available for Thomas Peterffy, chairman and founder of global electronic brokerage firm Interactive Brokers Group, Inc., in conversation with CNBC Senior Markets Correspondent Bob Pisani.

Mr. Peterffy has been at the forefront of applying computer technology to automate trading and brokerage functions since 1965. Today, Interactive Brokers is the second largest publicly-traded electronic broker, providing direct access trade execution and clearing services to institutional and professional traders for a wide variety of electronically traded products including stocks, options, futures, forex, bonds, CFDs and funds on over 135 trading venues and 27 currencies around the world.

Bob O’Shea was a scrappy kid from New Jersey. His grandmother worked as a maid at the Waldorf Astoria in midtown Manhattan, his father was a New York City cop and he was accepted to Fordham University on a track and field scholarship. O’Shea’s success on Wall Street is the epitome of the American dream. He was offered partnership at Goldman Sachs at age 29, making him the second-youngest partner in the firm’s history. Then, as a second act, he co-founded Silver Point Capital, a credit and special situations hedge fund, in 2002. He subsequently grew the firm from $120 million in assets under management to $15 billion. 

Michael Gatto, an adjunct professor at Fordham, will interview O’Shea about his meteoric rise on Wall Street. Topics will include his career and keys to his success, his views of the current credit markets and his advice for students and young professionals on how to build successful careers in credit.

Walking Tour (In-Person)

Relive the Great Crash of 1929 on the Museum's annual crash-themed walking tour of Lower Manhattan. This unique walking tour, now in its 34th year, is the only regularly-scheduled event that commemorates the Great Crash of 1929, the Panic of 1907 and the 1987 stock market collapse. It also delves into the political, financial, real estate and architectural history of Wall Street and New York City.
