Bill McDonough at 2009 gala

The Museum of American Finance honored Paul Volcker, he of great height and fiscal stature, with the obligatory gala on Monday night.

Laugh line of the gala went to a former New York Fed president, Bill McDonough, who remarked that these gloomy times in finance were ideal for the ethnically Irish because "our favorite social event is a wake."
