How Well Is the Media Covering the Economic Issues of the Presidential Campaign?

Henry Kaufman Lecture/Symposia Series

Wednesday, October 29, 2008 | 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM

Economic problems -- including the stock market crash; banking failures; the housing meltdown; the Treasury bail-out; job losses; the actions of the Federal Reserve -- collectively constitute Issue No. 1 for the American people. How they are being discussed by the Presidential candidates and how the media is covering those discussions will make for a spirited session by some experienced journalists. The panelists include:

Kathleen Hays -- Anchor and Economics Editor, Bloomberg News

Robert Lenzner -- National Editor, Forbes Magazine

Dean Starkman -- Managing Editor, The Audit, an online critique of financial journalism of Columbia Journalism Review

Myron Kandel -- Founding Financial Editor, CNN, and Contributing Commentator, PBS, will moderate the discussion.

Presentation and discussion followed by reception.
